Anger at WorkCover's new upmarket office

WORKCOVER SA plans to move into one of Adelaide's newest commercial
buildings and may pay steeper rent per square metre.

The plan has provoked lobby groups angry at the scheme for reducing benefits
to injured workers and falling behind on its commitment to cut employer levies.

It is understood the board has approved a decision not to renew the lease at
its 100 Waymouth St premises, which expires in June 2012, and to move its
offices to 400 King William St.

While WorkCoverSA refused to comment on the details, it is understood that
the corporation's rent would rise from $380sq m (the price it has been offered
to renew its lease, up from the current cost of $280sq m) to up to $451sq m
in the new building.

However, it is not clear whether it will lease less floor space than it does
currently, bringing down the cost.

WCV's: This is disgusting and a slap in the face for injured SA workers !
