WorkSafe and police are investigating a fatal fall at a construction site in South Melbourne.
A 37-year-old man from Craigieburn has died after falling 20 metres at the Dorcas Street site this morning.
It is believed a mobile scaffolding inside the building site had not been properly secured.
Chris Webb from WorkSafe says it is the second workplace fatality in Victoria this week.
Mr Webb says safety officials are continuing to investigate the cause of accident.
"The investigation will continue today until we have gathered enough evidence to start to make further deliberations," he said. "We'll take witness statements. "There will be an ongoing investigation into this for some time to come until we can determine the facts."
Fellow construction workers and two passing pedestrians saw the man fall and are being offered counselling.
