Worker dies at NSW desalination pipeline

A man working on a pipeline for Sydney's desalination plant has collapsed
and died, Sydney Water says.

The man, an employee of a sub-contractor working at the Tempe Lands
site, collapsed on Wednesday afternoon.

An ambulance was called but the man could not be revived and he died en
route to hospital, Sydney Water said in a statement.

Sydney Water would not immediately comment on the circumstances
leading up to the man's collapse.

The desalination pipeline between Kurnell and Erskineville is being
constructed by the Water Delivery Alliance, which includes Sydney Water,
Bovis Lend Lease, McConnell Dowell, Kellogg Brown and Root, Worley
Parsons and Environmental Resource Management.

They are cooperating with authorities, including the Coroner's Office and
WorkCover NSW, which are on-site and investigating.

The Water Delivery Alliance has extended its sympathies to the man's family.
