New WorkSafe advertising campaign release

The following release shows that the VWA is only concerned about the
employers and not the employees. Mr Tweedly states: "the new campaign
shows; safer workplaces, fewer injuries and lower premiums" which all protect
the employers and not the workers.

How does a 10% reduction in premiums for victorian employers help injured workers?

How much did this ad campaign cost? I am sure the money spent on this could have
helped hundreds of injured workers that have been denied your no fault insurance!

When are you going to care about us Mr Tweedly?

Where are the plans for injured workers from the kennett/bracks era?

When is workcover going to implement our own table of maims?

When is workcover going to treat us like people and not like numbers?

When is workcover going to stop treating injured workers like criminals and
provide the no fault insurance that they state they provide?

When is workcover going to enforce the legislation on all employers who have
not provided a safe workplace?

When are you going to make your complaint processes work?

These are the important issues for injured workers yet all you seem to care
about is the employers!

Well without the workers Mr Tweedly you have no system or product to offer; so
dont you think its about time you took care of the ones who keep this product you
are attempting to provide called NO FAULT insurance operating or maybe
workers should start to insure themselves against workplace injuries,
at least that way we would be looked after as we are entitled to be!

New WorkSafe advertising campaign release, August 18, 2004

Victorian employers will be targeted directly by an innovative advertising
campaign which demonstrates the strengthened link between the amount
of workplace injury insurance they pay and their health and safety
performance. The advertising campaign will be screened for the first time this
coming Sunday and highlights the incentive the new Workplace Injury
Insurance system is providing to employers to improve their health and
safety performance. The campaign will air on metropolitan and regional
television and appear in metropolitan, regional and selected non-English
language newspapers. The campaign follows the introduction of the new
Workplace Injury Insurance system on 1 July 2004.

Victorian Workcover Authority (VWA) Chief Executive, Greg Tweedly, said
the message was an important one for the whole community.“Improved safety
is in everybody’s interests. Now, by reducing the chance of injury and by getting
injured workers back to work as soon as they are able, employers are able to
lower the insurance costs of their business.”VWA’s insurance system has been
under review for the past three years. The changes have been made in stages
and introduced following extensive consultation across Victoria with employers,
workers and their representatives.Victorian employers will also benefit from
the 10% cut in the average premium rate in 2004-05, announced by Premier
Steve Bracks in April this year. The cut was a major plank of Victoria:
Leading the Way – a plan by the Government to cut business costs, drive
investment, create jobs and make Victoria more competitive. The message of
the advertising campaign is “Safer workplace, fewer injuries, lower premiums”.
Employers seeking information about improving health and safety in their
