WORKSAFE SPONSORS VICTORIAN COUNTRY FOOTBALL

Can you believe this? I for one am furious!!!!!
Why is workcover sponsoring football when they have injured workers who are not being cared for and are going without basic needs and some even losing their homes due to their injuries and here we have good old workcover propping up bloody football to the tune of 1.2 million!!!!!!
Mr Holding needs to get his head out of his butt and sponsor the injured workers who have been ripped off by bodgy legislation and Kennetts law instead of giving it away to a sport!
Whats wrong with this picture Mr Holding, shame on you!

Media Release from THE MINISTER FOR TAC
DATE: Saturday, December 1, 2007

Minister for Finance, WorkCover and TAC, Tim Holding, today announced $1.2 million in sponsorship to help kick along country football over the next three years. Speaking at the Victorian Country Football League annual seminar in Melbourne today, Mr Holding said the sponsorship package would help country football and assist WorkSafe Victoria in continuing to take its workplace safety message to regional Victoria.“This is a great opportunity to make Victorian workplaces safer and to contribute to our country football teams,” Mr Holding said.“Football clubs are the lifeblood of many Victorian towns and bring communities together.“The VCFL has played an integral role in delivering the workplace safety message to country towns at the grass roots level and this sponsorship package means they can continue to do that.”WorkSafe has sponsored the Victorian Country Football League since 2002.
As a result of this sponsorship the VCFL has been able to employ four full time area managers, provide training, development and education support programs, life skills and volunteer support programs, as well as provide for country championships and state representative teams.“This sponsorship has been crucial for the development of the game in country towns and has provided grass roots support where it is needed,” Mr Holding said. “This new funding will help the VCFL to continue the great work already being done and will also put in place additional programs that will help not only football but regional Victorian communities more widely,” Mr Holding said.“From newly created community partnership programs to local training workshops, the opportunities to work with regional Victorian footy clubs and spread the workplace safety message are enormous.”Every winter the WorkSafe brand is seen on more than 77,000 footy jumpers, thousands of footballs, goal posts and signage at grounds across Victoria.
